Detox Day 5: Alkaline and Feelin’ Fine

Peachy Green Tea Smoothie

Upon Waking (7:00 AM)
Large glass of filtered water with cucumber slices (in the water) and a dash of cayenne
Breakfast (8:00 AM)
Decaf Peachy Green Tea Smoothie (SKINNY DISH, page 47):
This smoothie makes about 4 (1-cup) servings–enjoy 2 cups if you want!
Frozen peaches (omit ice) or TJ’s Yellow Cling Peach Halves can be used if fresh peaches aren’t available.

Morning Snack (10:00 AM)
Herbal tea, 1 organic green apple
1 Hour Later (11:00 AM)
Large glass of filtered water with cucumber slices (in the water)
Lunch (12:00 PM)
Kaleidoscope Bean Salad (SKINNY DISH, page 116)
Enjoy 2 servings or have with gluten-free crackers if still hungry.
Filtered water
Mid-Afternoon Snack (2:00 PM)
Large glass of filtered water with lemon wedge
Carrot slices (or other sliced veggies) with TJ’s Goddess Dressing or other non-dairy, creamy dressing (such as Tahini Dressing in SKINNY DISH!)
Pre-Dinner Snack (4:00 PM)
Herbal tea; 1/4 cup raw cashews
Dinner (6:00 PM)
Large green salad with veggies of choice, sliced tempeh cubes (at least 1/2 the block), and rice vinegar
1 cup cooked brown rice
Filtered water
Before Bed (8:00 PM)
Chamomile or other herbal tea

Happy Weekend (if you started on a Monday…)! Only a couple days left and you’ve already made some healthy changes that are likely to stick until the end of time. It’s smooth sailing now!

    I am starting the detox on Monday. I am not a huge fan of Tofu, but I plan to give it a shot. I do not think I can manage eating the tempeh however. Is there another substitute other than tofu?

    Thanks for putting all this awesome info together in one place!

      Hey Angela, You can substitute 1/2 cup beans or lentils, or 1/4 cup raw nuts for any of the tofu or tempeh dishes. Nuts, lentils, and beans are actually better for detoxing anyway b/c they are less processed than tofu/tempeh. I only include them because I feel like people need some variety. Have fun! xoxo

    I’ve managed to convince my friends to go to a veggie restaurant for dinner so I can stay on track with the detox tonight. Which option would be best of these vegan gluten free dishes or are all of them ok?

    sri Iankan sweet potato and cashew nut curry served with yellow basmati rice with peas and coconut tomato sambal

    organic energising detox salad with beetroot, carrots, fennel, sprouting beans, sultanas, coriander and toasted seeds with apple, lime and ginger dressing plus organic tofu

    stir fried asian vegetables cooked in sesame oil and plum sauce with garlic and ginger, fresh chilli and coriander served with organic brown rice, toasted cashews and marinated organic tofu
